Eastern Rosella wing clip (long)
Back by popular demand are the Eastern Rosella hair clips!
I made the first one of these eight years ago, and it’s still a favourite go-to when I need to feel a little bit fancy (and it’s not too windy out). They always spark interesting conversations, and have inspired a few hair colours too.
These gorgeous hair clips (or mini wall mounts) are made with Eastern Rosellas – a species that is endemic to Australia, but considered to be potentially problematic for our native species as they compete for food and tree cavities. Causing localised damage to grain and fruit crops, including stripping flowers from some fruit trees also makes them unpopular for farmers.
These Eastern Rosellas were collected as part of pest control measures on a farm. As a result, some specimens were not viable for full taxidermy mounts, but they were perfect for creating small pieces for new and experienced collectors alike!
Every clip comes boxed and ready to give as a gift, or as a treat for yourself.
